Tall Ships Festival & Cunard Exhibition
The past weekend has seen the return of the tall ships to Liverpool and, as was the case 10 years ago, these unique vessels have attracted thousands of visitors and made for a really unique bank holiday weekend. It was a real carnival atmosphere down at the docks and it was a great testament to the strong maritime culture of the city.
Whilst less publicised, this weekend also saw an exhibition on Liverpool’s famous Cunard shipping line. Held (appropriately enough) in the Cunard Building, the exhibition featured Peter Elson relating the history and anecdotes associated with famous Cunard liners and their passengers, as well as archivists from the University of Liverpool who were on hand to display some long-hidden memorabilia. It was also a great chance to see the impressive building itself, as Signature Living work to convert it into a hotel wedding venue.
Here’s just a few snaps from the Tall Ships Festival and the Cunard event – enjoy!
